Sometimes we always receive some requirements from customers in the process of market sales, such as adding glass fiber, single-sided adhesive, double-sided adhesive, single-sided PI film, graphene and so on. In fact, the above requirements are nothing more than to provide customers with a more convenient product experience, better product quality and ultimately meet customer application requirements. Some time ago, a customer just asked us about a thermally conductive silicone sheet that enhances tensile strength, but the customer does not know what the name of this tensile strength-enhancing material is. We told the customer to add glass to the thermally conductive silicone sheet. Fiber cloth can increase the tear strength.


The thermal conductive silicone sheet with glass fiber is based on glass fiber and silica gel, and contains a compound of silicon resin, boron nitride and glass fiber. After using glass fiber, the thermally conductive silicone sheet has good toughness and sturdiness, and enhances the functional effects of high shear strength, puncture resistance and tear resistance. Moreover, it does not affect the multi-style thermal performance of the thermal conductive material itself, and is widely suitable for the application of any electrical and electronic equipment. In the field of thermal conductive materials, fiberglass cloth is widely used.


Generally speaking, when the customer chooses the glass fiber thermal conductive silicone sheet, it is nothing more than the overall tear strength of the material and the performance of the installation and operation. This is especially suitable for products with low thermal conductivity, soft hardness, and long dimensions. However, the thermally conductive silicone sheet with glass fiber also has some shortcomings of its own. Increasing the glass fiber is equal to indirectly increasing the thermal resistance of the material and increasing the resistance in the heat transfer process. Therefore, under normal circumstances, we do not recommend customers to add glass fiber on the thermal silica gel sheet; and indirectly increases the cost of materials.


So, what is the difference between glass fiber thermal conductive silicone sheet and ordinary thermal conductive silicone sheet?


Under the condition of the same thermal conductivity, the tensile strength of the glass fiber thermally conductive silicone sheet is different from that of the ordinary thermally conductive silicone sheet. The glass fiber thermally conductive silicone sheet has greater tensile strength and stronger. The greater the tear resistance, the less likely it is to tear.


In the case of the same product thickness, the thermal resistance of the glass fiber thermally conductive silicone sheet is greater than that of the ordinary thermally conductive silicone sheet. The greater the resistance in the heat transfer process, the less conducive to heat conduction and heat dissipation.


The cost of glass-fiber thermally conductive silicone sheet is higher than that of ordinary thermally conductive silicone sheet. The specific difference needs to be evaluated and calculated based on the product specifications and thickness.


Thermally conductive silicone sheet is a kind of soft and elastic thermally conductive gasket. Its toughness is not high. It is easy to find tearing under external force. The thinner the thickness of thermally conductive silicone sheet, the lower its tensile strength. The easier it is to be affected by external forces; it is easy to deform and be damaged by manpower during lamination. After glass fiber reinforcement, it can improve its toughness, and it is easier to operate and not deform. Glass fiber has excellent chemical resistance, acid corrosion resistance, etc., so it can improve the stability of the thermally conductive silicone sheet.
